I am joining the Orchestra. As some of you know, I like to work on PHP open source projects and build applications that make life easier. For me, deploying these applications was never that easy. Even when I setup my own git repos, added configuration on the server, and logged in via ssh, I knew there were other ways to improve the process.
A few months ago, David started telling me about this platform he was working on. As an early beta tester, I was amazed that a few steps would deploy my app and make it ready for for anything. I didn't have to worry about optimization. I didn't have to worry about updating to the latest versions. I didn't have to worry about backups. And security below the app level was of little concern. Obviously, this platform was the step to a great solution for PHP application deployment.
After some conversations with Eamon, I realized there was much more than just a keen technology. Our goals to grow the PHP community, to push innovation, and make the lives of developers easier matched perfectly. With Helgi on board and all the other friends of Orchestra, clearly we had a world class team to meet these goals.
Over the next few weeks, I'll be getting a bit more acquainted with the internals that make Orchestra special. If I notice anything missing from the docs, I'll certainly update as needed. David has some plans in his head, so I will be implementing a mind reader script to extract as much detail as possible. Then, there are a few other ideas of my own to squeeze in.
Come stop by #orchestra on freenode to say hello.
Rock on,
